Air and Gas Cleaning Technologies
During the treatment of industrial wastewater and sludge, we have increasingly encountered the need to address air pollution issues. Harmful gases (e.g., ammonia) that can be detrimental to health and the environment may be generated during manufacturing processes, and it is essential to prevent their release into the workplace or the surroundings. The most common method employed for this purpose is gas scrubbing. The essence of gas scrubbing is to remove pollutants from the contaminated gas through liquid washing.
The main components of a gas scrubbing technology can include:
- - Liquid storage tank
- - Scrubbing tower with observation openings and connecting pipes
- - Mist eliminator
- - Packing material to enhance surface area
- - Water and/or air filters
- - Recirculation pump
- - Fan
- - Measuring instruments (pH, conductivity, etc.)
- - Control unit.
The washing operation takes place in countercurrent within the scrubbing tower, where the gas enters from below, and the scrubbing liquid enters from above. The scrubbing tower may contain packing material to increase the mass transfer surface area between the gas and liquid phases. The scrubbing liquid can be water or some chemical solution (e.g., sulfuric acid in the case of ammonia contamination), which absorbs the pollutant. Over time, the scrubbing liquid becomes saturated – this can be measured instrumentally – and needs to be replaced.
Körte Environmental Technology Ltd. offers comprehensive solutions in this field to its clients:
- - We design the gas scrubbing technology.
- - We manufacture the scrubbing tower from plastic or stainless steel.
- - We manufacture and/or procure other necessary equipment for the technology.
- - We install, commission the process, and provide training for the operating personnel.
