Surface treatment plant wastewater treatment
Several plants in the Industrial Park carry out similar activities - manufacturing automotive components and household appliances - so the wastewater they generate is similar in character. Therefore, a common wastewater pre-treatment technology was set up to implement the treatment. An essential element of the designed solution was the selective discharge and collection of effluents of different contamination levels (rinses, concentrates, ion exchange regenerates, etc.).
The treatment technology is based on precipitation separation after pH adjustment. After separation of the sludge-water phases, the water is sent to ion exchangers and the sludge is passed to a mechanical dewatering unit. The purified water is sent to the existing biological unit (see flow chart), this was not part of our business.
Detailed description of the solution
The factories in the Industrial Park are suppliers to the automotive industry, producing various components. The subsequent machining of these parts (welding, enamelling, powder coating, etc.) requires surface preparation to achieve corrosion resistance, weldability, surface adhesion and, ultimately, increased service life of the finished products.
Surface treatment operations that generate waste water are:
- - degreasing
- - rinsing
- - sulphuric acid or alkaline pickling
- - rinsing
- - coating
- - rinsing etc.
