Plastic Chamber Filter Press
In most wastewater treatment technologies, there is a need to dewater sludge-like material (a byproduct or waste) before utilization and/or disposal. Among the wastewater dewatering equipment available in the industry, the chamber filter press achieves the highest dry matter content. It is a simple, batch-operated machine that is easy to handle and does not contain rotating components. Thanks to this, its operating costs are low compared to other machines like high-speed centrifuges, which can operate at speeds of up to 3,000-4,000 rpm.

In the case of plastic chamber filter presses, the actual filtration is performed by filter cloth attached to plastic plates or chambers. The size and number of these chambers determine the filtration area and capacity. High-pressure pumps (10-12 bar) press the pre-conditioned, diluted sludge through the closed chambers mounted on the frame. The solid particles in the sludge do not pass through the filter cloth, while the sludge water diffuses through it, and the filtrate water is discharged through drainage channels. As the chambers become saturated, the pressure in the system gradually increases. The control automation senses this and, when the preset pressure value is reached, stops the sludge feeding. Regulation can also be combined with measuring the time between the two filling phases. At that point, the press can be opened, and the sludge (around 20-28%, depending on the sludge's nature and composition) can be removed from the chambers.
Here are some key technical characteristics of the basic types:
- - Filtration pressure: 10-12 bar
- - Filter plate size: 400x400 mm, 630x630 mm, 800x800 mm, 1000x1000 mm, or custom
- - Number of chambers: Customizable
- - Filtration area: Customizable
- - Sludge cake thickness: 25-32 mm, depending on the chamber size and configuration
